How to add a group
For Owerly to track a group's shared spending, the bot has to be in the Telegram group.
A group in Owerly is an ordinary Telegram group with the bot in it. Members are taken from there too.
From the group settings
Open the group in Telegram — an existing one, or create a new one.
Tap the group avatar to open its settings.
Tap Add members.
Search for @OwerlyBot and press Done.
From the bot menu
Open the Owerly bot. If you cannot see the buttons, send /start.
Press Add friends/groups → Add a group.
Pick the group from the list.
The list shows groups the bot is already in. If you own a group, your own groups without the bot are listed too — pick one and the bot is added to it automatically.
Worth knowing
- Adding the bot to a group takes an admin, or a member with the matching rights.
- If the bot joins a group that already existed, members have to be added by hand. Anyone who joins later shows up in the app on their own.
Managing a group
In the app open the Groups tab → the group → Manage. You will see the member list and the Smart Settle toggle.
The group's name and its members are managed in Telegram itself, not in Owerly.
