Getting started
Records
Expenses, income and transfers: what a record holds and how to add, edit or delete one.
Records live on the Transactions tab in the app's bottom menu. The + button in the top-right corner opens the editor for a new record.
Three types of record
| Type | What for |
|---|---|
| Expense | Any spending. Only an expense can be split with friends or a group |
| Income | Personal money coming in, unrelated to friends: salary, royalties, dividends |
| Transfer | Money moving between you and a friend: you sent it or you received it |
What a record holds
- Amount and currency
- Category
- Group — expenses only
- Title and note
- Date and time — the current ones by default
Small things that save time
- Currency is set per record — you can track spending in several at once.
- If you leave the category empty but fill in the title, Owerly picks a category for you.
Editing and deleting
Open a record from the list and press Edit Record. A record stays editable until someone starts repaying it: once it is repaid in full or in part, editing closes.
Delete Record removes the record together with everything attached to it — participants' shares and settlement lines. The app warns you in a separate dialog.
